Students from Introduction to Humanities 1 (Hum 1) classes have attended music workshop on the afternoon of August 14 at the MSU-IIT Gymnasium. The aim of this lecture is to connect music to life. The speakers explicate how biological models connected and flourished to be utilized as a musical composition, on how life’s phenomena give impact and impetus to the extended techniques in music.
Guest artists from the Associacao de Formento do Ensino Artistico (AFEA) facilitated the said workshop in line with the Festival of Music of the Philippines – “Mga Araw ng Musika sa Pilipinas” which started on the 31st of July and lasts until the 20th of August.
Speakers of this series of lectures and workshops are Portuguese nationals Joana Guerra, a violinist and Jaime Reis, an electro-acoustic musician.
The workshop ended with a mini-concert - an output of the electro-acoustic music experiment conducted during the workshop. The performers were the Integrated Performing Arts Guild, Octava Choral Society and the Echoes Band.
The said workshop The Department of Philosophy and Humanities, with its Chairperson Prof. Omar B. Bataluna, and the Cultural Development Office of the Institute coordinated the said event. The workshop is the last leg of a nationwide tour which visited the cities of Manila, Iloilo, Malaybalay, Cagayan de Oro, Camiguin and Bohol.
