Arachnids Do Good in Sports

By Sarene Mae Butao

A faint twinge of excitement floated through their bodies that day. A hint of anticipation could not be suppressed. They found their minds swarming with jumbled exhilaration. The adrenaline was already flowing.

The General Education Students’ Organization  was hailed as the Over-all Champion in the Sports Events, followed by the Sociological Society and the Psychological Society respectively, during the CASS DAYS 2013 in keeping with the theme #pinakamalaCASS: Greater Heights through Internationalization. The seven societies competed in Chess (Men) that was conquered by Historical Society and Chess (Women), by the Political Science Society. The Sociological Society defeated the other societies in Table Tennis (Mixed, Men, and Women division). Badminton Mixed & Men division was won  by the General Education Students’ Organization and Badminton Women division by Psychological Society. All team sports namely: Basketball, Volleyball, and Ultimate was triumphed by the General Education Students’ Organization.

Through pure, salty sweat and vicious determination, the achievement that the seven societies had  meant so much to them. Those were the days where they found self-confidence and discovered that perseverance yields its own sweet fruit.  For a moment, they felt that they were truly the best.

The Sports Events of CASS Days 2013 became a perfect avenue for emphasizing the infinite swarm’s value for unity. With the different values that the players learned, Arachnids showed that winning does not give off true happiness, but rather, it is a tool for bringing out the spirit of sportsmanship in the middle of any competition.
