The first official entry of students to the campus for AY 2022-2023 was on the 22nd of August 2022. Unbeknown and a great surprise to students, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Students Services headed by Prof. Rohane M. Derogongan prepared a week-long series of activities that surely introduces the University to freshies and re-introduces it to the sophs, juniors, and seniors (who were not able to spend much time inside the campus due to the pandemic) with the theme "Welcome Back IITians! Something New, Everything Great."
As early as 7 a.m., the campus was bustling with undergraduate students from various colleges, taking photos, laughing, smiling, and having fun waiting for the time to pass by. At around 9 a.m., freshman students assembled inside the gymnasium. When the programme coordinator called each College, students boasted their loudest chants.
To introduce to the new set of IITians to the MSU-IIT College community, students were shown the various college 'icons’ representing each college's traits, character, and grand vision. Ushered by the unequivocal creativity of IITians, the college 'icons’ dazzled the audience with their elegant costumes and unique interpretations of their spirit animals.
Present at the event was also the University Chancellor, Atty. Alizedney M. Ditucalan. In his message, he made it clear to mention the new shift from the work/study-from-home set-up to this flexible learning environment the university is applying. The highlight of his message underscored the importance of time and how important it is to weave precious moments together because, without a doubt, “time is gold,” the Chancellor said.
A student organisation fair was also set up and opened at the MSU-IIT Park. Each College and Organisations within the university set up their own booths and dispersed all through the park, presenting their unique themes and amusements, and various prizes for the general public.
The MSU-IIT community and all the students witnessed the official opening of the food court that will serve as a new central food hub for students during school days. Throughout the week, there were various food stalls around the campus.
On August 23, freshman undergraduate students were present at the gymnasium to observe the University Orientation delivered and spearheaded by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) together with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Services (OVCSS). The orientation practically featured and showcased the academic system and structure of the college community of MSU-IIT.
On August 24, a research fair was held at the gymnasium spearheaded by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension (OVCRE) and its Department of Research and Extension, together with the OVCSS. The rationale for the event is to underscore and show to the external community and the new students the capacity and quality of research the university has developed and is currently developing.
On August 25, undergraduate students were given a special tour around the university campus. MSU-IIT is a behemoth of a university, consisting of a plethora of large buildings that also houses a maze of other centres and rooms. That said, to ease the burden and confusion of first-time students entering such an enormous campus, the Office of the Guidance Counsellor (OGC), under the umbrella of the OVCSS conducted a Campus Tour.
The weeklong Welcoming IITians celebration was designed to orient students, celebrate their return, and acknowledge the changes in the university and the tomorrow that is to come. That said, on the fifth and last leg of the week, MSU-IIT treated all its students to a special closing programme held at the MSU-IIT Park. The university officially closed the weeklong celebration by throwing a party in the park with an exceptional performance by Kalimulan and Kalilang and other resident groups in the university.

As this chapter closes, a new and exciting chapter begins. It has been two long years since the university has had students hustle and bustle around campus. Albeit, with the weeklong event, it was set to have its students calibrate and recalibrate themselves around the new environment, new people, and the new learning modality.
