The Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) and the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) together with the Linguistic Society of the Philippines (LSP) host the three-day International Conference on Linguistics, featuring renowned local and international scholars. With the theme ‘Decentering, Decolonizing, and Deconstructing Languages in New Paradigms and Discourses’, the conference delves into language analysis, changes, application, and research.
Day one featured a Keynote Presentation from David Eberhard, the General Editor of Ethnologue, who emphasized the power of Community Agency in the future of Minority Languages.
Dr. Konrwipa Poonpon from Khon Kaen University followed with an enlightening Plenary Presentation on the contribution of Corpus Linguistics in assessing academic writings.
Attendees then enjoyed a Poster Presentation. Attendees watched video presentations of selected research work from the other presenters. Aside from watching, attendees were also permitted to throw questions and clarifications to the presenters. Subsequent to the Plenary Hall Session, Attendees went to either Concurrent Sessions A, B, or C, all of which are Parallel Paper Presentations.
The International Conference opened today, 27 April, and will to the 29th of April 2023.
