The MSU-IIT Historical Society (MIHS) exemplified an enthralling platform for student engagement, creativity, and teamwork as they showcased societal achievements, previous department publications, handmade crafts, and books in their fair booth.
Banking on the creative prowess and collaborative spirit of MIHS, Mayor Irah Shiene Guiang emphasized their booth’s intention to provide an avenue to vividly demonstrate such qualities reflected within their society and its members.
“The MIHS aims to ensure that the History program is applied to the lives of students even outside the classroom. We believe that knowing our history and how it correlates to and influences our lives today is the impact we're trying to achieve,” Guiang highlighted in a written interview when asked about the main focus of their society.
The MIHS Mayor pointed out that their society often initiates activities that are student-centric and relevant to their program, such as exhibits, research conferences, and contests so students are able to put what they have learned to practical use.
“The booth experience was great for us; we got to think outside the box, consolidate ideas from the society, and solve problems together— thus cementing camaraderie and rapport within us. That, at least personally, makes us a winner,” she expressed.
As part of the Welcome Week festivities, the 2023 Organization Fair assumes a prominent role in inviting students to embark on a journey of exploration and connection with organizations aligned with their passions. On August 23, the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) marked the commencement of the fair by unveiling the booths of its seven vibrant societies.
