First-year students of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) marched on a campus tour in the various service unit sites of Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) for the college’s Open House, on August 15, Thursday.

Among the offices they are introduced to are the Office of Sports Development (OSD), Office of Student Development and Services (OSD), Office of Guidance and Counseling (OGC), Center for Culture and Arts (CCA), Office of Student Residences and Food Services (OSRFS), MSU-IIT Career Center, Center for Learning and Academic Support Services (CLASS, and the university clinic.

One of the highlights of this lead-in trip to university life is a Bingo card by the MSU-IIT Career Center, which keep tabs on their productive and opportunity-oriented stay until graduation.

Meanwhile, ushered by their upperclassmen, the Open House has also become a platform to connect with other students from different societies, including their own.

Cyrus Jhed Mocorro, a freshman from the Sociology Society, expressed how he enjoyed the Open House following a warm welcome and heads up from their seniors on juggling the cycles of their college journey.

“We had fun during our talkie-time with my fellow freshies and seniors because we were able to know them well. Also, the seniors taught us some tips on how we should manage our time in academics as well as in extracurricular activities.”

Mocorro also revealed how he was surprised by the variety of offices and services at IIT, which aimed to help students in various ways.
