by Andrea Alexa Barga

“What are you looking forward to experiencing now that you're in college?”

The heat of the sun peaks through the trees lining CASS’ lawn, casting dappled light on a sea of fresh faces. There's an air of excitement and nervous energy, the kind that could only mean one thing: a new chapter in life begins. For some, it is the start of a journey they've been dreaming of for years, for others, it is the beginning of a path they're just beginning to carve out. But whether they stride across campus with confidence or with the careful steps of a new explorer, one thing is certain–these freshmen are ready to embark on an adventure like no other.

Since MSU-IIT is known for its amazing events, I am looking forward to it.”

AJ Bela Cortes, a BA English Language Studies student, looks forward to attending MSU-IIT's college events. Having heard the Dakilang Pamantasan's reputation for such events, she hopes to connect with people through these events. Cortes’ anticipation of forming lasting friendships underlines 1the importance of social connections in shaping the college experience. These early bonds often become a crucial support system, providing not just companionship but also a sense of belonging in an unfamiliar environment.

“I'm looking forward to just getting to know everyone.”

From BS Psychology, Joshua Barsumo looks forward to getting to know the people around her, working together, and experiencing new things. Barsumo also looks forward to the classes. Though she expects challenges along the way, she emphasizes that these challenges are part of how people grow. As a freshman, these experiences that she looks forward to are the simple joys of life, and she hopes to take them along as she moves forward.

“I am really looking forward to learn more and develop my skills.”

Louther Athan Amper, a BS Philosophy student, entered MSU-IIT with high expectations. With this, he hopes to have a low-key first-year experience, and join several organizations that can hone his abilities. “They said that the first year is simple, and I hope so,” he expressed. Louther’s interest in joining organizations reflects a deeper understanding of how college can be more than just academics. College organizations offer students a chance to hone their skills in real-world settings, whether through leadership roles, collaborative projects, or community service.

“I've always loved learning.”

Maegan Jarina, a BA Political Science student, is driven by her love for knowledge as she embarks on this new journey. “What I'm really looking forward to is the expansion of knowledge, and what I'm really looking forward to is knowing more and exploring what I haven't yet,” she said. As a fresh graduate of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS), she was told that there are more opportunities to know more and learn more when in college. With this in mind, Jarina is thrilled to be taking the next step, and jumping into the pot of knowledge.

“To experience joining organizations in IIT.”

Hailing from the Bachelor of Arts in History, Rafael “Elijah” Sandoy looks forward to joining an organization that focuses on the betterment of the environment.
