Sea Glass

by Thea Maristelle

and you say you so-love-freedom

but of course you do

boasting free wildered benevolence

as they stand in awe

but you always knew

as you're cramped up by fear

of limiting lines

wala na oy

of making excuses

wala man

of feeling okay

wala lang

scared of the little refractions of lights

as you shatter glass of your own

scattering on the ground

and so you always walk on the sidewalks

walking, scribbling, crippling

tirelessly hoping for the hues of it all

finding a way back home

and you always find yourself

back to shore;

not you

but it's always the waves coming through

carrying broken shards

tirelessly waiting for sea glass
