A buzzing excitement and fun wrapped up the university grounds as the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology Council of Organizations (MSU-IIT COO) drew to a close this year’s Organization Fair with great fanfare on February 20, Thursday. Dubbed the Bizarre Bazaar, the three-day event served as a melting pot of all the best that MSU-IIT’s school organizations and publications had to offer.
The program began with a brief remark from Deputy Chair Alondra Dela Cruz to set the tone for the afternoon, followed by a message of gratitude to the participating organizations from COO Chairperson Aiman Zylle Musot.
Certificates of Participation were distributed to all the groups and organizations who lent their time and efforts to make the event a total success. Prizes were also awarded to the top winners of the COO Olympics for conquering the various fun and engaging activities prepared by the hosting organization.
The most awaited part of the afternoon was carried through with the awarding of the Best Booth, a recognition of the combined creativity, skill, and hard work of these groups in showcasing the best of their organizations within one small space. The gamemasters have spoken and hailed the MSU-IIT Muslim Students Association (MIMSA), the MSU-IIT NMPC Youth Cooperative, and the MSU-IIT DOST Scholars’ Association (MIDSA) as Champion, First Runner-Up, and Second Runner-Up, respectively.
“We felt very satisfied with having [this] achievement. I think it’s also deserving, especially to our sisters, kasi sila talaga ang naghirap nito,” MIMSA Membership Committee Head Hamza Farghanie M. Ranao proudly exclaimed. He also added that despite the obstacles and pressure they faced in maintaining the same title their organization garnered last year, he was thankful that they were able to defend it successfully.
The event was formally concluded with a closing remark from MSU-IIT Office of Student Development Services (OSDS) Director Asst. Prof. Phyllis Marie Teanco, who expressed her immense gratitude and appreciation for the organizations that tirelessly participated despite the unpredictable weather conditions. She also stated that the COO’s service does not end here but will soon be shared through community extension programs towards schools in need of assistance.
True to the COO’s purpose of “Connecting Visions”, this event proved that there is beauty in the multiplicity of the student body. It shows how people of different visions can come together to create something meaningful, and that even the most bizarre gatherings can foster connection and shared purpose.
