CASS’ Tali Mauls CHS’ Nyxara with 2-0 Finish in Two Games

Sizzling early feast at dusk, the College of Arts and Social Sciences’ (CASS) Tali swept 2-0 wins against the College of Health Sciences’ (CHS) Nyxara in both women’s and men’s volleyball pre-games for PALAKASAN 2025 on Thursday, February 27 at the IDS Multipurpose Hall.

Tali charged onset, narrowing chances for the other side of the court to ascend past 15 points in every set’s final call, sealing Nyxara’s loss.

The women’s first set saw a commanding lead in favor of Tali that polished the game to 25-15. In their bid to surge back, Nyxara’s grit held the longest rally, tipping off to domineer the second set. While they were able to snag the upper hand through aces, Tali pulled ahead in swelling attacks, taking advantage of the former’s open defense. The second set rested at 25-13.

On the other hand, both men’s sets came out with a cemented lead. Aggressive play from Tali ran spikes that froze the count at 1-8 at the start of the second set. Nyxara persevered with dumps and digs but to no avail, ultimately succumbing as Tali sealed their fate with closely similar results at 25-13 and 25-12 on the first and second set respectively.

April Rose Leonor (Women’s Category) and Jerry Carbaquil (Men’s Category) from CASS’ Tali emerged as the players of the game.

This year’s volleyball tournament follows a round-robin format with each team accumulating points based on wins and losses, and the standings determine the rankings. CASS’ Tali is set to vie for another match to defend their clean record of wins.
