Music and revelry filled the air on the evening of February 7, as the Kataas-taasang Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral (KASAMA) opened the Alampat 2025 on the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) Lawn with a bang.
Named the FebruARTSy: Unveiling Diverse Arts, the event celebrated the beauty of arts and culture with performances and activities intended to touch the hearts and eyes of both performers and audiences alike.
The occasion was filled with dazzling personalities from the get-go, with Mx. IIT Influencer 2024, Valerie Acama, serving as the host and KASAMA President Arjie P. Catillon opening the program with words of appreciation for the arts and its many artists. The excitement and energy of the crowd only went up from there.
Hip-hop pieces from the MSU-IIT Orions and the cutesy K-Pop-themed number from the group Aspire shook the floor with their lively performances. The crowd was even pulled directly into the fun with interactive activities like the Karaoke Session and Random Play Dance, keeping them on their feet for the night.
The celebration was also graced by three lovely and quirky divas: Pearla Masculada, Nadiah Foxxx, and Das Spice Melange, who left the audience in awe with their smashing acts. The program ended with sweet serenades by the Echoes band and a closing message from Senator Dave Andrei Garbanzos.
However, no school performance is ever complete without our fellow Arachnids thrown into the mix. Aspire performer, Jean Aubrey A. Kiamko from the Junior Philosophers’ Guild expressed her motivation for joining the event. “Gusto ko ma-show ang akong talent, which is dancing. Gusto pud ko maboost akong confidence…”
“This is a great way to have fun in the middle of the examination preparations,” said MSU-IIT Sociology Society student Adnan P. Batalo, sharing his thoughts on the overall event. Although he noted that some improvement could still be made, he conveyed that it was a fun experience for the IITians who attended, judging by the crowd who stayed for the performances.
The event showcased not only the artistry of the students who participated but also the hard work and dedication that went into their craft. As the evening came to a close, laughter, and applause can be heard so much that one can almost confidently say that art is best in the envelope of bright fairy lights under the inky night sky.
