The Golden Honmoon: CATS Demon Hunters (ft. Dilaw)

by Ayesha Cala and Michel Angelique Ferolino

They are done hiding and are now shining; the stars of the MSU-IIT stage are back! This year’s Acquaintance Party was not just a return; it was a full-on spectacle where energy, music, and stories collided under one roof.

Last Friday night, August 15, 2025, the Honmoon began to close as talented performers lit up the stage during the 2025 Acquaintance Party, organized by the Kataas-taasang Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral (KASAMA) in collaboration with TM Tambayan. Fans from across different colleges came together, united by their shared love and passion, all in pursuit of the most-awaited: Golden Honmoon, or more fittingly, ang Dilaw na Honmoon.

Students struggled under the hot August sun as they lined up for the exclusive, limited wristbands: their one-way ticket to get a spot to watch the Demon Hunters slay live. One could say they had a thirst to watch the performances.

Amid the waiting crowd, excitement was already bubbling. We asked a few MSU-IIT Cats what song could turn the Honmoon golden and which Dilaw track they were most eager to hear live.

For Shu, a sophomore BS Biology (Microbiology) student, the answer was simple yet incredibly unique and logical. “I think we can all agree that Gangnam Style made the Honmoon golden back in 2012,” they shared.

“It’s such a catchy and fun song that everyone, even non-K-pop listeners, can enjoy.” When it came to Dilaw, they leaned toward their all-time number one hit. “Of course, Uhaw. But I hope they play the more mellow version because me, personally, I prefer that one.”

While Shu looked back at a global hit, others stuck with current anthems.

Lydianne Bolambot, a sophomore BS Psychology student, felt that there was no better choice than Golden. “Honestly, for the last few days mao’y permi nag-balik-balik anywhere, everywhere I’ve been. Pati pagpa-salon nako, it was still playing on repeat,” she said.

“It’s probably because something sa lyrics kay ‘we’re going up, up, up, it’s our moment.’ To me, it promotes self-confidence of some sort, self-love and all that. Positive vibes all the way.” As for Dilaw, she admitted shyly: “Honestly, I don’t really know other songs outside of Uhaw. I’m just here for the vibes.”

Echoing that sentiment, Belle Dorothy Hortilano, a second-year BET Chemical Engineering Technology student, also chose Golden. “That’s a tough one!” she exclaimed when asked. “But I think it would still be Golden because Honmoon as we know it kay dark jud siya. If we were to build it up, up, up, kay ma-Golden jud siya.” Just like her playlist, her heart was set on Dilaw’s Uhaw as well.

Not everyone, however, chose the obvious picks.

For Froilan Kho, a second-year BS Biodiversity student, it was a different track altogether. “Feel nako kuan—katong bag-o nako nadunggan, Eternity man yata? Basta bag-o siya nga song and nice kaayo,” he explained. “Something sa katong instrument niya na murag instrument then nikalit siyag wala, then ang voice ra niya ang nabilin. Comforting kaayo sa akoa.” With a sheepish smile, he admitted he didn’t know much of Dilaw’s discography. “Uhaw ra guro,” he admits.

The freshmen, meanwhile, kept it simple. One from BEEd Language Education and another from BS Philosophy both answered that it had to be Golden. “Sikat man siya ron,” one reasoned. When asked about Dilaw, they chimed in with two of the band’s most popular songs: “Janice and Uhaw.”

Beyond flashing lights, red-banded wrists, and the choir of screams, the 2025 Acquaintance Party became more than just a night to take down demons. It became a night where many made new connections through a shared passion and love, where cherished memories were made in the crowd. Bumping shoulders, singing the same songs, and the shared love of the masses of MSU-IIT were more than enough not only to seal the Honmoon but to turn it golden. For one night, the campus became a living story, where every beat, every chorus, and every cheer wrote itself into memory.

Even as the last chorus of Uhaw echoed through the packed gymnasium, the cheers refused to fade. The lightsticks may be turned off soon to give way to our obligations as students of our beloved school, but the Golden Honmoon will remain—proof that for one night, IITians slayed, shone, and thirsted together.
