The Office of Student Development Services (OSDS) officially released the list of candidates for the 2025 Kataas-taasang Sanggunian ng mga Mag-Aaral (KASAMA) General Elections on Thursday, September 25, including the full slate for the College of Arts and Social Sciences Student Council (CASS-SC).
For the top KASAMA post, current Officer-in-Charge Dave Andrei Garbanzos, a 3rd-year BA Sociology student, is running unopposed for President. His independent candidacy continues under the newly ratified 2025 KASAMA Constitution and By-Laws.
Three independent candidates from the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) are seeking seats in the university-wide Senate: Emman Rowen Bugsocan (BA Filipino), Mark Jay Abarido (BS Philosophy), and Ram Leone Garces (BA Sociology). Their candidacies highlight CASS’ sustained presence in university-wide representation.
In the CASS Executive Council, Jovan Virtudazo (BA Sociology) is the lone candidate for College Governor. The race for Board Member includes seven contenders: six from the STEPS party and one independent, Albani Daud (BA Panitikan).
All candidates for both KASAMA and CASS-SC are running unopposed this year.
Under the 2025 KASAMA Constitution and By-Laws, the university-wide council allows for up to 12 senators, while each college council may elect up to 7 board members. This year’s elections mark a pivotal moment for student representation, with a strong showing from both independent candidates and members of the STEPS party.
According to the official election calendar, the campaign period will run from September 26 to 30, followed by the Miting de Avance on October 1. Voting will take place on October 2 and 3, with results to be announced on October 4. The proclamation and mass oathtaking of elected officers are scheduled for October 6.
With no contested races, the spotlight now turns to how candidates will present their platforms and engage the student body ahead of the polls.
