To my lover,
Flirtatious words echoed across the chambers, your promises resonated in my heart. You knelt for me as you proposed, your great ideas that brushed off our woes. You raised your right hand as you solemnly swear, “Oh to show you my love and reflect that I cared.” Yet when we are married and our pact is sealed, your resolve loosened alongside your zeal. Our foundation is nothing but an ember of lies, the ashes spell out what once was. The fervor died down as you kept on being rash.
Through your lies and your empty promises, and proof that I lack. I rally to be heard, yet you sit shamelessly with no regard for me, your love. Turns out I wasn’t the only one you played with. You toyed with countless hearts and you tore our dreams apart. With a deep seething hunger for justice, I speak out.
I speak against your name, condemning you while dealing with the pain. I find it hard to cope when the only thing I have is resilience, not because I was taught that, but because you manipulated me to believe that. You said my smile shined the brightest whilst I was at my weakest, but is that really how things should be?
I tried so hard to hold you accountable. Yet when charges are pressed, you suddenly fall ill. Teasing death as if you’re eager to meet your maker. Your illness is fabricated, like your ill-gotten personality. You reek of corruption and you soon will rot in hell. You kept on telling me that I was strong when you were the one beating me down. You keep on giving me aid knowing that it was from my own pockets. You once stole my heart but now I know you’re just a merciless thief.
I get it now, you never loved me. You only married me for your personal gain. You never meant it when you made all of those promises. Now I sit orphaned, in this barren land you left me. Now, I understand why you were laughing when you said ‘til death do us part.
From,
Gabriela
