The Council of Vice Governors (CVG) has appointed its newest Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Secretary in a session held at the College of Health Sciences (CHS) conference room on Wednesday, October 15.
Facilitated by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the event gathered the Vice Governors from the seven colleges of MSU-IIT to elect the officials that will serve as members of the Kataas-taasang Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral (KASAMA) alongside other student leaders and representatives.
For the position of CVG Chairperson, the Vice Governors from the College of Computer Studies (CCS), College of Education (CED), and College of Engineering (COE) qualified for nomination.
Following their individual speeches to fellow constituents, the election proceeded, and CCS Vice Governor Maria Vianell Tadoy was elected Chairperson with a majority of five out of seven votes.
Meanwhile, for the Vice Chairperson position, nominations were given again to CED and COE, along with CHS. An unexpected tie between CHS and COE emerged before CHS Vice Governor Aeithazsa Prym Talaid claimed the position with five out of seven votes.
Although the election for the CVG Secretary was not specified in the official guidelines, the COMELEC proceeded with it in adherence to the KASAMA Constitution.
COE Vice Governor Ray NiƱo Comendador secured the position with a majority win, outvoting nominees from CED, the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), and the College of Economics, Business, and Accountancy (CEBA).
Due to the absence of the former CVG Chairperson, the turnover ceremony was not held; instead, the newly elected officers proceeded to the Office of Student Development and Services (OSDS) to formally take their oath of office.
