Art Heals: Alima Alampat unites art, purpose, and humanitarian action

Reality met art in Alima Alampat: Pag Unong sa Pag-alim, themed “Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting,” as the production brought life to the stage on Monday, February 23, at the MSU-IIT Gymnasium, celebrating National Arts Month 2026 and raising funds and support for Typhoon Basyang victims.

Organized by the MSU-IIT Center for Culture and Arts (CCA) in collaboration with the Kataas-taasang Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral (KASAMA), the stage was transformed into a platform where art became a call for justice and a reflection of lived struggles.

The show starred performances from MSU-IIT’s resident performing groups—including the Integrated Performing Arts Guild (IPAG), Kalimulan Cultural Dance Troupe, Octava Choral Society, Kalilang Traditional Music Ensemble, Orions Dance Group, Echoes Pop Band, and the Wildcats—together with Dragreat (PasundaDrag), League of Aces, and Harana Sessions.

More than just a production, Alima Alampat brought the community together to support those affected by Typhoon Basyang, opening a donation drive instead of requiring tickets to encourage audiences to enjoy the performances while contributing to the cause and embracing the event’s core message of humanity.

The celebration opened with performances by MSU-IIT’s cultural groups, followed by Dragreat (PasundaDrag), featuring Maria Clowe Glamour Ayala, Louizianna Ayala, Kali Ver, and Secret Versace, whose vibrant act celebrated identity and artistry, before closing with the dynamic harmonies of Harana Sessions.

Queenie Joy Arreglado, a first-year BSBA Business Economics student, shared that her favorite moment of the event was the opening performance.

“The opening where two girls (I think from Echoes) sang (I don’t know the title), but the lyrics ‘ay na sa palad mo' gave me literal goosebumps,” she exclaimed.

Another crowd member, Clouie, a second-year BS Civil Engineering student, expressed how she appreciated the event’s cause on top of the production.

Even after the curtains closed, the spotlight dimmed, and the crowds dispersed, Alima Alampat: Pag Unong sa Pag-Alim left lasting memories, highlighting the power of art to inspire, unite, and uplift communities in times of need.
