CASS General Assembly highlights accomplishments, financial transparency, student engagement


The College of Arts and Social Sciences - Student Council (CASS-SC) presented its accomplishments, financial report, and key resolutions during its General Assembly today, February 21, at the University Gymnasium, bringing together student leaders and society representatives in a program that underscored transparency, accountability, and active student participation within the college.


Assoc. Prof. Airen Sajulga, CASS-SC Adviser, opened the program as she delivered the welcome message, expressing gratitude to the student body for their continued engagement and support of council-led initiatives.


Highlighting transparency and shared responsibility, she encouraged students to remain active partners in cultivating a dynamic environment within CASS.


CASS-SC Governor Jovan Virtudazo presented the Accomplishment Report, detailing major undertakings such as the intensive preparation for CASS Days, other student-centered programs, and collaborative initiatives led by the council that underscored the council’s dedication to leadership, service, and representation.


Norjhan Rasuman, CASS-SC Vice-Governor, introduced twenty-two (22) resolutions of CASS-SC, whose purpose is to formally approve the council’s actions, appointments, and allocation of funds for the school year which assure sound governance and financial accountability.


All CASS societies had the chance to present their accomplishment reports, delivered by Kabataang Pilipinong Aakay sa Bayan (KAPILAS-Bayan) Mayor Edgar Senoron Jr.; Literature, Language, and Culture Society (LILACS) Mayor Jodell Michael Francisco; Junior Philosophers’ Guild (JPG) Treasurer and Auditor, Eleza Ashley Pacarat and Alexandra Jone Lagahit; MSU-IIT Sociology Society (MISS) Mayor Ariel Ebale II; Psychology Society President Yona Liguid; MSU-IIT Historical Society (MIHS) Mayor Kristyl Berioso; and Political Science Society (PSS) Prime Minister Justine Sampilo.


This highlighted their societies' accomplishments, advocacies, and contributions not only to their respective colleges and within the university but also to various community outreach initiatives.


CASS-SC Budget and Finance Board Member Cristal Jane Cambaya presented the Financial Report which discussed the distribution of funds such as the CASS membership fee, expenditures, and remaining balances, from the first semester to the second semester of the current academic year, underscoring the council’s accountability to its constituents.


An Open Forum gave the audience the opportunity to raise concerns, pose questions, and offer recommendations directly to the council officers and college representatives, encouraging dialogue between the council and the students.


The assembly concluded with closing remarks delivered by CASS-SC Board Member Albari G. Daud, who stressed the importance of unity, transparency, and participation in shaping the future of CASS and called on students to actively support their respective societies as the Culture and Arts and Special Events are showcased the following afternoon.


The CASS General Assembly ultimately served not only as a platform for reporting and recognition but also as a celebration of collective growth and student empowerment within the college community.
