Fairy Frenzy: CASS flutters in fete, opens Pixie Hollow Games 2026

Pushing through currents of setbacks, the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) entered into the magical realm of Disney’s Pixie Hollow Games with the theme, “Ignite the Pixie Within”, as CASS Days 2026 kicked off this morning, February 20, at the college’s lawn.

A ceremonial lighting of torch and the unfurling of banners spearheaded by the respective society mayors and prime minister formally marked the annual showdown of wit, talent, and skills.

Leaving sparkles of colors and chants amid the drizzle, the seven societies also marched in a foot parade beneath their guilds’ pennants, namely: the MSU-IIT Historical Society (MIHS) Primelle Fairies, Psychology Society (PsychSoc) Percipient Naiads, Political Science Society (PSS) Florent Fairies, Literature, Language, and Culture Society (LILACS) Windweaving Fairies, Junior Philosophers Guild (JPG) Wintermirths, Kabataang Pilipinong Aakay sa Bayan (KAPILAS-Bayan) Kandili, and the MSU-IIT Sociology Society (MISS) Order of the Prismlit Fairies.

Embodying the spirit of sportsmanship, figureheads of the fairy guilds gathered together in a light hearted “budots” dance face-off, featuring a spirited crowd joining in with full support.

CASS Dean Prof. Marie Joy Banawa, in her welcoming remarks, reiterated the cordial atmosphere of the event that brings students together to engage with their peers.

“This is a healthy competition to forget the academics and to foster friendship even closer as the CASS family… We need to have that, we need the support, we need each other. The support system should be there,” Banawa stressed.

Subsequently, CASS Student Council (CASS-SC) Board Member for Budget and Finance Cristal Jane Cambaya set the stage for the upcoming saga of games with the presentation of this year’s celebration rationale, underscoring the essence of camaraderie and identity as one ‘CASS’.

“As we embark on CASS Days 2026, we invite you to embrace your inner fairy not as a figure of myth but as a symbol of a student who stands for integrity, stand with your society, celebrate your identity and remember that our collective strength is at its peak when our brilliance is guided by our values. Unleash your power, let your voices guide your crowd,” Cambaya declared.

Meanwhile, Governor Jovan Virtudazo, in an interview, shared the challenges that put the annual event on hold for later dates, reflecting on the relief efforts in response to Tropical Storm Basyang.

Yet despite the unfavorable turn, the collective efforts and preparations of the seven societies and the council carried the event forward ahead of March, which the Governor agreed as a beneficial move on the college’s end, considering the time allowance for the preparations for PALAKASAN 2026.

The first day of CASS Days 2026 spotlighted literary competitions alongside championship games of major sports tilts.

In this magical race to conquest, fairies are set for a soaring flight to fight as the arena takes on an intense duel in the following days.
