Woven in fairy magic, seven writers unleashed their spellbound creativity in a show of knowledge, imagination, and skills at this year’s CASS Days Fiction Writing event at CASS 5th Floor Room E55 today, February 20, 2026.
The seven fairy guilds—the Political Science Society (PSS) Florent Fairies, Kabataang Pilipinong Aakay sa Bayan (KAPILAS-Bayan) Kandili, Psychology Society (PsychSoc) Percipient Naiads, MSU-IIT Historical Society (MIHS) Primelle Fairies, MSU-IIT Sociology Society (MISS) Order of the Prismlit Fairies, Junior Philosophers Guild (JPG) Wintermirths, and the Literature, Language, and Culture Society (LILACS) Windweaving Fairies—each sent one participant, who was given a three-hour writing period to craft a short story echoing the prompt: “How many times can a country be reborn?”
Entries will be judged based on content, relevance, stylistics, and mechanics—ensuring that the winning piece will be a petal boat of substance, purpose, language mastery, uniqueness, and structure.
Stories ranged from LILACS Windweaving Fairies’ Bryan Open’s sarimanok references, use of the Bisaya language, and depiction of Mindanawan regions to PSS Florent Fairies’ Alliah Banglos’ portrayal of continued resistance and inspiration drawn from the Philippines’ long history of colonization. PsychSoc Percipient Naiads’ Rigil Quidlat, on the other hand, tapped into several themes such as countries, families, culture, and how a person is a product of what came before.
All the whimsical tales and daring quests brought the magic of Pixie Hollow to life on paper and ignited the hibernating pixie within. Winners of this writing tilt are set to be unveiled during the awarding ceremony this Sunday, February 22.
