Cedrix ft. Lynxie soars past Cassanova in three-set thriller in women’s volleyball match

Using cohesive play and timely execution to secure a spot in the next round, the College of Education-Integrated Developmental School (CED-IDS) Cedrix ft. Lynxie women’s volleyball squad defeated the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Cassanova team, 2-1, in a tightly contested semifinal bout for PALAKASAN 2026 last Tuesday, March 24, at the MSU-IIT Multi-Purpose Hall.

In a pre-match interview, CED-IDS player Faith Wasquin declined to label CASS as an easy opponent and stressed their team’s preparedness, discipline, and confidence heading into the high-stakes encounter.

CED-IDS dominated the opening set, 25-15, establishing early momentum against a struggling CASS.

CASS locked in and responded in the second set with renewed energy and sharper execution, claiming a 25-17 win against CED-IDS to force a decisive third set.

The third and final set turned into a showcase of endurance and tactical play, with both teams exchanging powerful spikes and disciplined defense under rising pressure.

Every move a crusade, every hit a battle, but with sharp edges and cunning plays, CED-IDS formally outsmarted CASS, claiming the set 25-13 and the victory.

As the crowd dispersed and echoes of cheers faded, attention shifted to CASS Cassanova’s path forward following the hard-fought loss.

Casanova’s Thrixy Rivera said in a post interview: “Kabalo man jud ta na ang bola kay circle man jud na, so daghan possibilities na mahitabo. Wala jud ko kabalo unsa may result karon nga dula, pero kung gustuhon man jud, unta mahitabo nga madaog mi,” highlighting the hope that the team will secure victory in future matches.
