Heartbreak on the Court: Aurie outshines Cassanova in 54-14 rout during women’s basketball pre-game

In a display of offensive efficiency and consistent pressure, the Aurie Griffin Trolls secured a decisive 54-14 victory over the Cassanova Spider Trolls in the PALAKASAN women’s basketball pregame matchup on Saturday, March 14, at the Institute Gymnasium.

While team Cassanova showed sparks of coordination early on, they were ultimately unable to keep pace with an Aurie offense that seemed to find the basket at will.

The game began with a quick start from the Spider Trolls, as they were the first to shoot and put points on the board. Throughout the early minutes, the duo of CASS’ players #26 and #29 displayed impressive chemistry, working tirelessly together to regain possession and push the ball up to the court. This defensive grit kept the game competitive in the opening frame, ending the first quarter with a tight score of 7-4 in favor of the Griffin Trolls.

However, as the game progressed, team Aurie began to pull away. A significant portion of their momentum came from the hot hand of CEBA’s player #18, who stunned the defense by sinking three consecutive shots to widen the lead.

CEBA’s disciplined play was further highlighted by player #7, who capitalized on trips to the charity stripe by consistently knocking down free throws. By the third quarter, the deficit had grown significantly.

CASS made a spirited attempt to mount a comeback, trailing 38-12, but the CEBA defense held firm, limiting the Spider Trolls to just one additional point for the remainder of the period, which ended at 38-12.

The Player of the Game was CEBA’s Abillar (#25), who delivered a massive 23-point performance. Accounting for nearly half of her team’s total score, Abillar’s scoring prowess proved to be the difference-maker in the game. Despite the efforts of the Cassanova backcourt to disrupt the flow, Aurie’s steady execution led them to a comfortable 50-point victory.
