To honor the shared journey and progress women have made in the spirit of National Women’s Month, the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) Meow Meow Park was lit up with the vibrant celebration of “Feast Day Ni MSU-IIT: Sayawan at Tugtugan para sa Kababaihan” on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
In an opening message, Dr. Rohane M. Derogongan, Vice Chancellor for Student Services expressed heartfelt gratitude to MSU-IIT’s Council of Organizations (COO) for their significant assistance and initiative in making the event possible.
“When women support women, and when a community stands together in solidarity, there is no limit to what we can accomplish,” she proudly stated.
Resonare Chamber Orchestra (ReCO), an emerging orchestra ensemble within MSU-IIT, set the tone for the afternoon by playing orchestral pieces that were both calm and moving, creating an ambience that resonated with the spirit of the occasion.
Attendees from different organizations came together to participate in games and activities, giving them the opportunity to mingle and get to know one another.
A special highlight of the event was the Listening Session: Her Story, where everyone present gathered in a circle at the gazebo to hear personal stories about women, shared by one another. The letters, submitted by different individuals, were read aloud to honor their journeys while also creating a space for empathy and connection.
Moreover, through the CommunIITy F.E.A.S.T (Food Empowerment for Academic Success and Transformation), participants were able to enjoy free arroz caldo.
The open nature of the event welcomed everyone, allowing all to take part in the shared celebration, proving that true empowerment begins with caring for one another.
