Death's Kiss
by Michael Cinches Lagura
.
O How acrid is thy kiss
When wings of darkness soar amiss
Let me with thine silver and coins buy
Through laughter and apathy deride
Fluttering voices beneath Hades' lair
To be suspended and forgotten-
For me to wan and you to snicker,
O such horrid nightmare!
The Alb has sure to bear.
.
So wake up be foolish and gay
If wise, be wiser as you may
To hold the rainbow in your hands
And touch the molecules in form so grand.
For as lot as a billion pieces
And whimsical as are those the chances,
Nothing could compare, I pray
To Death's kiss so mysterious and sacred
Palpable as thunder's roar
Thus fictitious to cheat and betray.
