CASS: New and Fresh

Entering  college starts a new journey for an individual aiming for a better future. New academic year, new faces,  new set of student body organizations, and new administrators for  the College of Arts and Social Sciences  are  expected by the freshmen.

Yells, screams, and shouts exploded in MSU-IIT gymnasium as the CASS Executive Council initiated the first general assembly last June 25, 2013. The processional was led  by the ROTC officers of MSU-IIT together with the  new dean, Dr. Marie Joy Banawa, and the  new assistant dean , Prof. Sittie Noffaisah Pasandalan. Together with them are  the society heads of the differentorganizations, as well as the CASS-EC officers and appointees. The crowd kicked out of excitement as the freshmen were introduced and welcomed  by their fellow arachnids. It is the first time in history that the first year students were welcomed in such a way that they had the “freshmen walk”. The attention of the students  was adverted as the CASS-EC adviser, prof. David Almarez gave his welcome address and cited that this year will be more a more intensifying one.

On the other hand, our new CASS Dean, conferred her words of wisdom as she promoted the environmental awareness campaign to the students to be responsible and conscious in preserving the environment. Meanwhile, the governor, Mr. Lewey Jimoya gave his inspirational message and noted that “bright future comes with perseverance and urgency.” He included in his speech the introduction of the new CASS-EC officers, budget proposals, finished and upcoming projects, and preparatory activities with its corresponding schedules.

In line with the program, escalating intermission numbers were also rendered  by the Octava Chorale Society, Kalimulan Dance Troupe, Catz Eye and the Hot Groovers, which added forces to the extreme happenings in the gymnasium. In addition, the top performing students of the 7 departments of CASS were also acknowledged and were given certificates of recognition for being part of the dean’s listers. The top 3 students who got the highest GPA last semester were Sajulga, Airen of Kapilas Bayan with a GPA of 1.20833  , next is Lynrose Jane Genon of ABEO with a GPA of 1.26087, and on the 3rd spot was Karen Ramos  of Kapilas Bayan with a GPA of 1.29167.

At the end of the program, all were fresh and eager to start a new journey in CASS while clinging to the title “pinakamalaCASS”.
