Has this ever happened to you? Your desk and mind are all set up to work on the paper you have to pass in two weeks. But just when you started to stare at the glowing screen, a feeling that craves entertainment ended up consuming your time.
As students, we all know this narrative too well. It's obvious that sometimes we often leave our tasks unfinished until the last minute— some might even say that it's because the adrenaline rush makes us do it faster.
However, there are some things that we can do to change these habits. Check the tips below!
1. Recognize your study and work habits.
Are you someone who prefers to work at night or one who gets more work done first thing in the morning? Getting to know your preferred working time is essential, so you’ll learn to schedule your tasks accordingly. You can certainly write a task schedule and set the alarm to remind you of the task you have to finish.
We all have different preferences when it comes to this. So, stick to a work habit that best works for you and makes your experience more bearable.
2. Bit by bit.
Micro-tasking can significantly transform your outcomes from good to great! It may take you a little more time and patience, but the results will surely be worth it — just like working out your physical body or learning a new language or hobby.
Sit for 20-30 minutes a day to finish your tasks. Then, when burnout hits, just breathe, blink your eye away from the screen and rest a bit.
See how you’ll feel as though you were not doing heavy works after checking them all off your to-do list. That’s the art of micro-tasking.
3. Rest and repeat the cycle.
Fatigue and a pile of delayed works are just a few of the consequences of procrastinating. So unless you don’t want any of these to happen to you, quit those excuses to procrastinate.
Rest in between lessons but don't forget to get back to it; your assignments won't make themselves. Procrastination is only dragging you further from feeling at ease.
Procrastination is the worst enemy.
We have the choice to either embrace its enticing but devious ways of taking our time or learning from it. Unfortunately, the adrenaline rush that comes with procrastinating is just a facade. The real deals are the ideas and breakthroughs that can only be unlocked once you decided to take the first step out from this trap.
