Arachnids Habituate Webs: joins symposium, settles in new home

By John Vincent M. Balustre

To navigate their 4-year journey, CASS freshies and transferees partook in the College Life Symposium spearheaded by the Office of Guidance and Counseling (OCG) on October 5, 2022, at the MSU-IIT Gymnasium.

This annual service rendered by the OCG carried on, especially in the time which necessitated the aid in the transition of students from virtual learning in high school to their venture into college.

It is a pleasure to have you in MSU-IIT, particularly in CASS... This [College Life Symposium] is lovingly dedicated to you as you conquer your degrees,
expressed CASS Dean Dr. Marie Joy D. Banawa.

Well-versed psychometricians who were then CASS students, Reynalou B. Lagare and Jelli Grace Luzano were speakers of the said event.

CED Guidance Counselor Lagare coined 'CARE' as an acronym for what students need as they set forth in their college life. She stressed the Courage to continue despite of, Acceptance, Resiliency, and Equipping one's self with the right mindset as fundamental to surviving the new chapter for first-year students.

If your plans don't work, it's not the end of the world. Sometimes it's giving you a detour that sometimes it's a story you can tell for another day,
said one of OCG's psychometrician Jelli Grace Luzano reminding students that there are reasons behind our circumstances.

Moreover, Engaging ice breakers were also among the highlights of the symposium. CASS Guidance Counselor Michael Alain Mamauag gave out prizes for random students that were able to recall major takeaways and information from the OCG itself and its speakers.

It's really a fun-filled event and an insightful one especially as a student myself unaccustomed to the program I've landed, it makes me hopeful to think that it's not the end of everything and I can still do what I initially wanted to do,
stated the BA Sociology student who were among the recipients of the games administered by the CASS Guidance Counselor.

The event concluded with the OCG featuring mental health services to the students as the mental health month kicks off.
