Winners' Proclamation of the July 2022 KASAMA General Elections

The College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Executive Council (EC) joined other ECs from other Colleges in the University during the winners' proclamation of the July 2022 KASAMA Elections at the Philippine Research Institute of Science and Mathematics (PRISM) Hall spearheaded by the Office of Student Development Services (OSDS) Director and Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairperson, Prof. Phyllis Marie S. Teanco, and attended by the Vice Chancellor for Student Services, Vice Chancellor Rohanne M. Derogongan.

Prof. Teanco first noted that the KASAMA General Elections last 19 July were in line with the KASAMA Election Code promulgated by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). As for the KASAMA Presidential post, however, she articulated that only one student ran for the said post. Even more, the candidate did not meet the minimum requirements stipulated in the KASAMA Constitution and By-Laws, specifically Section II of Article 10 - "A student shall cease to be a member of the KASAMA upon graduation." Likewise, votes from Graduates Students were invalidated in the canvass for lack of legal basis pursuant to Section 1 of Article 4 of the KASAMA Constitution and By-Laws, which maintains that only College students are members of KASAMA.
