MSU-IIT English Department officially opens the International Conference-Workshop on Language and Literature (ICWoLL)

Earlier today, the English Department of the College of Arts and Social Sciences officially opened the International Conference-Workshop on Language and Literature (ICWoLL) bearing the theme 'Convergences, Disruptions and Junctions: Exploring New Directions in Language and Literature' as part of the Department’s commitment to inculcate the inevitable changes in language and literature anchored in the evolving and ever-changing world and how it continuously shapes the multifaceted nature of global communities and societies.

In a short interview with CASSayuran, Department of English Chairperson, Dr. Merceditha C. Alicando, shared about her initial feelings and impressions with the opening of the conference, she said;

Honestly, I was initially nervous at first considering that it's our 1st international conference and it's conducted online. But when the opening program started and I saw everyone doing his/her task and motivating one another, I know that everything would work well. And I was right - the opening program was an overwhelming success.

She further expressed that

With the different working committees hardwork and support from our partner universities - UH, UMY, UNIMAS, and UiTM -, I am so positive that ICWoLL 2022 will be fruitful and successful.

In the same vein, Ms. Levi Mae F. Tampus also shared to CASSayuran her initial feelings and impressions as a presenter in the conference.

As one of the paper presenters for ICWOLL 2022, the opening program really set in the fact that I would be part of something that my department and other universities around the globe has prepared for in the past months– finally being able to see the faces and feel the presence of the participants and speakers though virtually was humbing. I am sure that this would be a great avenue to learn more and a fruitful academic exchange,

she told CASSayuran.
