Into the PubVerse! Arachnids Weave their Stories and Design During the PubliCASSyon

PubliCASSyon is an online pubverse contest for the CASSadya 2023. Each society has seven (7) members – a news writer, sports writer, creative writer, editorial writer, editorial cartoonist, photojournalist, and layout artist. Members of recognised publications s were prohibited from joining. Thus, the publiCASSyon took place at CASS rooms 208-209 from 9 AM to 7 PM yesterday, February 18, 2023.

Before the event started, a briefing session was held at the Old English Department Office, CASS room 101, at 8 AM. The briefing session was supposed to begin at 7 AM to check gadgets and materials, primary instructions, and participant registration.

However, due to heavy rainfall, some participants were affected, and considerations were made; thus, the briefing session was moved to 8 AM. Hence, publiCASSyon started at 9 AM, right after the briefing session.

Further, the participants were not allowed to have pre-saved files for their final product since all outputs should be made on the same day. However, having an online connection was allowed for layout editing purposes.

PubliCASSyon participants were expected to cover the day's events: opening program, quiz bowl, radio broadcasting simulation, and Esports (Mobile Legends: BangBang). Among these events, initial coverage for volleyball didn't push through due to unfavorable weather conditions. Instead, the CASS EC provided an online video of a recent volleyball game at the national level.

Meanwhile, all participants were kept from leaving the designated room for the event; hence, they were provided snacks and lunch from their respective society's working committees.

PubliCASSyon was supposed to end at 6 PM as stated in the guidelines. However, the submission was extended until 7 PM since the event started an hour late.
