The student representatives from the Psychology Society proved their wits and cleverness as they victoriously came out the champion from the ultimate quiz bowl held at CASSalida Theater earlier today, February 18, 2023, during the opening day of the CASSadya 2023.
The Ultimate Quiz Bowl is one of the many events organized by the College of Arts and Social Science’s Executive Council (CASS EC) in celebration of this school year’s CASS Days, with the theme, CASSADYA 2023: Imagining a New Normal.
Following the opening program, facilitators of the event were quick to get the ball rolling and start the competition. Student representatives from the seven societies of CASS gathered at the CASSalida Theater, equipped with knowledge and eagerness to be the champion.
After the first and second rounds, only five out of the seven societies were able to advance to the third round, namely: (1) Junior Philosopher’s Guild; (2) Political Science Society; (3) Psychology Society; (4) Sociology Society; and (5) AB English Organization.
The top five societies quickly swept the third round, albeit having the top three candidates compete in the fourth round did not come as soon. There was fierce competition between the AB English Organization, the Sociology Society, and the Junior Philosopher’s Guild, with the three societies answering every tiebreaker question correctly. The fierce tiebreaker round ended with the Sociology Society joining the top three and the Political Science Society and Psychology Society.
In the fourth round, the Political Science Society came out as the second runner-up, and another tiebreaker round was done between the Psychology Society and Sociology Society to determine the champion for the ultimate quiz bowl.
Not long after, the Psychology Society was hailed as the champion of CASSADYA 2023’s Ultimate Quiz Bowl, followed by the Sociology Society as the first runner-up. Furthermore, the Psychology Society will represent the College of Arts and Social Sciences in the upcoming Palakasan Quiz Bowl this academic year.
