The Political Science team successfully seized a spot in the Final round of the Esports: Mobile Legends Competition hosted during CASSadya 2023 and will be going head-to-head for gold with either Psychology or History tomorrow afternoon, February 21.
As part of the series of competitions celebrating CASSadya 2023, six societies, namely KAPILAS-Bayan, Political Science, Psychology, ABEO, History, and Sociology, vied to qualify for the Final round of the double-elimination ML competition during today’s Semi-Finals at the CASS Lobby. Six tournaments wrapped up this evening, February 20. And at its peak, Political Science ascended to the Final round after beating Psychology in an intense best-of-5 match with a 3-1 score.
In an interview, Prime Azriel Go, Captain of the Political Science ML Team, shared how they felt nervous but confident in today’s Semi-Finals. He stated that the momentum they gained from yesterday’s win against History helped them become more confident in playing.
“We were able to execute well the strategies we planned beforehand and keep the usual style we go for during games,” Go emphasized when asked what the key to their victory was.
Due to insufficient time, the team set to go against Political Science in the Final round will be determined in tomorrow’s deciding game, with Psychology and History playing in a best-of-5 match. Whichever team wins will be Political Science’s opponent during the Final round of the Esports: Mobile Legends Competition, which is also set to happen tomorrow.
Before the deciding game against Psychology, the team from Political Science was already gaining momentum as they swept Kapilas-Bayan with a 3-0 score. On the other hand, Psychology was also on a winning streak before they faced Political Science, having assailed the ABEO team with a 3-0 score.
Meanwhile, in the lower bracket tournaments, History proved themselves to be quite the resilient players as they managed to climb from the bottom to the top, conquering the team from KAPILAS-Bayan with a score of 2-1 and one-upping Sociology in a sweep, 2-0. With that, the History team gained a chance to fight against Psychology for a spot in the Finals.
The current rankings of teams are as follows: Sociology in 4th, KAPILAS-Bayan in 5th, ABEO in 6th, Philosophy in 7th, and CASS EC in 8th. Today’s competition lasted four (4) hours, from the afternoon until around seven (7).
