On the third and final day of the ComE with Us! extension program, organized by the Department of English on March 05, 2023, at the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), teacher-participants from various secondary schools in Iligan City put their newly acquired insights into practice by performing various workshop activities.

The day began with lectures on project-based learning (PjBL) and action research in relation to differentiated instruction (DI) delivered by Prof. Fitria Rahmawati from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), and Prof. Honeylet Dumoran and Prof. Lynrose Genon from MSU-IIT, respectively. These lectures provided important insights for the teacher-participants on how to approach their action research plan.

During the workshop, the teacher-participants were grouped with colleagues from the same school and were tasked to identify an urgent and important learning problem in their respective schools. They brainstormed and worked together to envision the desired outcome, and then listed the necessary steps to achieve their goal in their action research plan. This exercise enabled the teacher-participants to identify and find solutions to critical learning problems in their schools.

The third day of the program concluded with each group presenting their action research plan in front of the other teacher-participants. The workshop activities and the action research plans allowed the teacher-participants to put into practice their newly acquired knowledge and skills from the previous two days, enabling them to be better-equipped in addressing the specific needs of their schools and students.
