The College of Arts and Social Science (CASS) at MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) has once again proven its capacity for nurturing academic trailblazers. Reggy H. Bartido is the latest proof, standing out during the 53rd Commencement Ceremony held on July 16, 2023.

Bartido, a graduate of the Department of Sociology, is not just another student who walked the corridors of CASS. His journey paints a vivid portrait of dedication, resilience, and leadership, a testament to the transformative education provided by MSU-IIT. Not only did he earn the accolade of Summa Cum Laude, but he also distinguished himself as the Institute Salutatorian and CASS Valedictorian.

Before his academic triumphs, Bartido was already leaving a mark within CASS as the former Editor-in-Chief of its official publication, 'CASSayuran.' This unique aspect of his journey throws a spotlight on the longstanding tradition of CASSayuran in shaping and empowering future valedictorians and leaders. As an essential platform for student expression, it has honed intellectual and leadership skills, fostered critical thought, and cultivated a sense of social responsibility among its members.

Bartido’s valedictory address, which emphasized the importance of self-care and maintaining our self-worth while nurturing our connections with others, offered a riveting narrative of shared struggles and victories. His speech served as a beacon for aspiring Sociology majors, emphasising the significance of collective strength and personal well-being in shaping an enriching college experience.

Bartido's individual success isn't an isolated achievement. This year, CASS celebrated the collective accomplishment of producing 44 Sociology graduates - four Summa Cum Laude, 34 Magna Cum Laude, and three Cum Laude. This remarkable feat further attests to the dedication of CASS to moulding future leaders and change-makers, a mission that CASSayuran has shared since its inception.

Reggy's story will undeniably resonate with the upcoming generations of CASS, inspiring them to aim higher and further. As they turn the pages of CASSayuran and contribute their unique voices, they join a lineage of students who have found their intellectual prowess amplified by the publication. Through the pages of CASSayuran, the next valedictorians are undoubtedly being shaped, ready to write their own inspiring chapters of academic excellence and personal growth.

In this light, we congratulate Reggy H. Bartido and all our graduates. Here's to the continued tradition of producing valedictorians at CASSayuran and the enduring power of solidarity in our shared struggles and triumphs.
