Wrapping up this year's Pasidungog: Buwan ng Wika 2023, the KAPILAS-Bayan feted winners of its slate of competitions, at the new building lobby of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), last September 6, 2023.
The culmination was a nod to the exemplary creatives that embodied their sophisticated roots of vibrant culture and language. Notably, the lineup of events that took place this month was inclusive not just to the members of the KAPILAS-Bayan but to all IITians and even neighboring schools in Iligan.
This year's program recognizes triumphants from four categories of events namely the Inter-School Pagsulat ng Sanaysay Competition, Poster Making Contest, Spoken Word Poetry, and Makalumang Sayaw sa Makabagong Tugtugin.
Among the winners of the Inter-School Pagsulat ng Sanaysay Competition is Jan Allen Mar Respicio, a senior high school student from MSU-IIT Integrated Developmental School (IDS), dubbed as this year's Mananalaysay ng Taon. Mohammad Shadi Muti, a junior high school student from Iligan Medical Center College, and Jevin Astillero, a third-year BA Filipino student were declared as 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.
On the other hand, Edgar SeƱoron, a first-year BA Filipino student clinched the title of having the Pinakamahusay na Poster in the Poster Making Contest, held last August 30, 2023. Jehnor Torion, a fourth-year BA Philosophy student, and Justin Arador, a third-year BA Filipino student followed suit as 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.
Moreover, in a flaring play of performance art, Rachell Jane Erigbuagas, a first-year BA history major, emerged as this year's Hari ng Spoken Poetry. Meanwhile, Irish Jane Astillero, a third-year BA Filipino major was declared 1st runner-up, and Nicholai Gabrielle Guisadio, a fourth-year BA Filipino major followed as 2nd runner-up.
Lastly, third-year BA Filipino students are conferred as this year's Pinakamahusay na Mananayaw in the Makalumang Sayaw sa Makabagong Tugtugin Competition. On the other hand, second-year BA Panitikan students placed as 1st runner-up while third-year BA Panitikan students secured the 2nd runner-up title.
With the month of national language's conclusion, this annual festivity hosted by the KAPILAS-Bayan served as a testament to continuity in acknowledging the significance of keeping various channels of expressing our regard to language thriving.
