From reel to reality— Dalumat, Iligan City’s rising film group, bags Recognition for Audio Visual Art on GARBO Iligan, GARBO Lanao del Norte: A Creatives Event and Exhibit, held on October 23, 2023 at Robinsons Mall.
Founded by Frankie James Balos, Dave Daniel Cardino, Tristan Jadman and Barby Gwynne Ebardo, 2nd Year Computer Engineering students and mentored by Nik Azcuna and Hermi Dico, Professors of Mindanao State University—Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), Dalumat made waves in the national film scene with their debut film 'Ang Mag-uuma' bearing the name of Lanao del Norte on Mga Kwento ng Klima Film Festival 2023.
Director Frankie Balos received the plaque of appreciation for Dalumat with core team Lemuel Elumba (COE), Renz Abellardo (CASS), Sittie Camal (CASS), and Simonette Intong (CASS), a testament to the influential spirit of young IITians in the flourishing creative industry.
"Receiving this award, this is unexpected for us [Dalumat] because Ang Mag-uuma was our first project so it is a tribute of our love for films and art, and served strongly to our advocacy. We are very thankful to DTI Lanao, ICDCC, and the City Government of Iligan for recognizing and acknowledging our craft as young filmmakers," said 'Direk' Balos.
GARBO is a week-long event organized by Department of Trade Industry (DTI) Region 10 and the Iligan City Creative Industry Development Council (ICCDC)—its second day dedicated to recognizing artists who have achieved national and international prominence, with Dalumat in the roster.
DTI Region X Regional Director Ermedio J. Abang, DTI Lanao del Norte Provincial Director Jane Marie L. Tabucan, Vice Chair of Iligan City Creatives Development Council Thomas Derrick P. Siao, City Councilor and Trade, Commerce and Industry Chairman Atty. Marlene Young, and other distinguished guests lauded Dalumat and prominent Iligan artists for bringing pride to the province.
With a bright future ahead, Dalumat sets the reel in motion for their second film, calling for pledges for the Cine de Oro Film Festival 2023.
As stated by Director Tabucan, "The future is creative." Know more about Dalumat through this link: https://web.facebook.com/dalumatfilm/posts/227926166966371
