In a historic event for the Department of Philosophy, twenty fourth-year students were honored in the first-ever Practicum Pinning Ceremony, held earlier today, at 8:00 AM in the CASSalida Theater. The ceremony marked a significant milestone for both the students and the department, symbolizing their readiness to embark on their practicum journey.
The event was attended by notable figures including Sir Lex Hilario, Junior Philosopher's Guild Adviser, and Sir Fernando Garingo, Chairperson of the Department of Philosophy and Humanities. Additionally, the ceremony saw participation from first to third-year Philosophy students, creating an atmosphere of communal support and academic excellence.
Sir Lex Hilario opened the ceremony with insightful remarks, setting an inspiring tone for the event. Prior to the pinning, an open panel discussion was conducted, featuring esteemed guests such as Mayrian Sencio, a distinguished alumnus now teaching at IDS, along with Sir Oliver Perater and Sir Lex Hilario. The panel provided a platform for younger students to engage with and learn from experienced philosophers, addressing a range of thought-provoking questions from the first and second-year attendees.
The highlight of the event was the pinning ceremony, led by Sir Fernando Garingo, who also serves as the adviser for the batch of 2023-2024. His guidance and support were palpable as he spearheaded this momentous occasion, marking a rite of passage for the senior students.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Sir Fernando Garingo, encapsulating the significance of the day and offering words of wisdom and encouragement to the students as they step forward into their practicums.
This event not only celebrated the achievements of the senior students but also strengthened the bond within the Department of Philosophy, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing future philosophers and thought leaders.
