Running through the web-themed entrance of the College of Arts and Social Sciences, a collective sense of purpose echoed in the rapid steps, resonating with the urgency to make the last-minute attendance. During this swift motion, a realization struck—a shared excitement, a vibrant thread weaving through the air, signaling the kick-off of the eagerly awaited CASS Days—a thrilling journey into the realm of CASSverse.
With the sunrise casting its warm glow, it became apparent that CASS Days occupied a special place in the hearts of students.
This yearly celebration, more than a simple series of events, marked a gathering of talents, ideas, and passions within the CASS community. The lively beats of drums resounded across the CASS Lawn, accompanied by the spirited cheers of various societies—the AB English Organization (ABEO), Junior Philosophers’ Guild (JPG), Political Science Society (PSS), Psychology Society, Sociology Society, Historical Society, and Kapilas Bayan. Each society, with its own special flair, brought a unique vibe to the lively scene. The shared excitement created a tangible bond of camaraderie that hung in the air.
As each society opened its booths, the scene was filled with vivid colors, and evident creativity filled the scene. The booths turned into lively showcases, displaying a wide range of imaginative displays from each group. On the other hand, an oath-taking ceremony for sportsmanship occurred, instilling a sense of solemnity into the events.
Participants pledged to uphold the principles of fair play, fostering unity and cooperation within the diverse CASS community. This scene showed a shared dedication to not only creativity but also to the enduring values of integrity and mutual respect, marking the beginning of a celebration that goes beyond mere entertainment.
To officially begin the main events of CASS, a torch-lighting ceremony unfolded at the heart of the CASS lawn. The mayors from each society stepped forward, igniting the torch in a symbolic initiation of the event. This ceremonial act not only marked the start of the official proceedings but also served as a powerful representation of unity and collaboration among the diverse societies within the College of Arts and Social Sciences.
While some events have already started and participants are settled in their designated rooms for various contests like PubliCASSyon, Debate, Scriptwriting, Quiz Bowl, and others not specifically mentioned, traditional games such as "Laro ng Lahi," including sack races and tug of war, took place on the CASS lawn.
The vibrant atmosphere was heightened as students enthusiastically cheered for their respective societies, adding an extra layer of excitement to the ongoing events.
As CASS Days kick off, it's evident that every CASS student, especially the freshmen experiencing the event for the first time, holds high expectations. Many joined to engage themselves, learn, and connect with fellow students. This year's celebration is particularly significant as it marks the 40th anniversary of the college, emphasizing the importance of reflecting on the years we collectively conquered. As we commemorate this milestone, let the spirit of unity and shared experiences during CASS Days serve as a timeless reminder. May the lessons learned and memories created, especially through the contests, be a lasting source of inspiration for students, fostering pride and a deep sense of belonging within the CASS community. The 40th anniversary is not just a marker in time but a testament to the enduring spirit that defines the College of Arts and Social Sciences.
