Psych Seizes Gold in Chess Tourney

by Maan Deuda

The Psychology Society claimed their rightful place on top in the CASSverse Chess Competition after going through intense matchups with the six societies to secure the title of Champions with 13 points. Following closely in second place was the Political Science Society (PSS) with 11.5 points, and the Sociology Society at third with 10 points.

The tournament, held throughout yesterday, comprised seven rounds with three boards as all three players from each society competed simultaneously with members of other teams at Room E55.

During Round 1, Psychology and Sociology claimed a perfect win as they dominated all three boards. PSS followed through with this, gaining two points. Round 2 featured KAPILAS-Bayan, Sociology, and Psychology seizing two out of three games. Similarly, Round 3 went the same way as Sociology and Psychology gained another two points, and this time, the Junior Philosophers’ Guild (JPG) regained their loss as they also won two out of three of their games. Psychology bested their previous performance as they swept three of their games during Round 4, with PSS and History lagging behind with two points. Rounds 5 to 7 continued to be just as exhilarating as teams continued to grapple against each other for domination.

The CASSverse Chess Competition ended with the JPG at 4th with 8 points, the Historical Society at 5th with 7.5 points, the AB English Organization (ABEO) at 6th with 7 points, and KAPILAS-Bayan at 7th with 6 points.
