MSU-IIT Kicks Off Research Week 2024

Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) launched its Research Week 2024 with the theme “Synergizing Innovation and Interdisciplinarity: Pathways to a Sustainable Future,” on March 4, 2024, at the institute gymnasium.


During the opening ceremony, distinguished guests from DOST Region 10 and The National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), together with Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan, MSU-IIT Chancellor inaugurated the event through a symbolic ribbon cutting.


In her speech at MSU-IIT’s Research Week 2024, resource speaker Dr. Leslie Michelle M. Dalmacio, President of NRCP and Vice Chancellor for Research in UP Manila, stressed how important interdisciplinary research is in creating a well-rounded approach to problem-solving.


Dr. Dalmacio also celebrates MSU-IIT’s dynamic research culture which includes FAB LAB, PRISM, and IDEYA as some examples. To end her speech, she made an enthusiastic statement “Mabuhay ang MSU, at ang mananaliksik ng MSU!” that was met by applause resonating in the gymnasium.


According to Chancellor Ditucalan’s declaration; “Collaboration is our way forward,” underscoring progress propelled by ventures worked together. Besides this, he outlined a five-year roadmap towards interdisciplinary and integrative research focused on sustainable development while enumerating MSU-IIT’s recent research milestones reached so far.


He also added that the research week will now be part of the school's academic calendar for the years to come.


An array of inventions and research outputs from the engineering, natural sciences, and social sciences for which students can immerse themselves, featured the exhibit as the end of the program signaled the commencement of Research Week 2024. The event will run until the 8th of March along with the recognition of outstanding researchers.
