After being starved of both a lead and a win in the first quarter, the Lethal Arachnids Men’s Basketball team proved their lethality by seizing control of the game in the second quarter, breaking the Ascii Wolves’ lead and snowballing their way to victory.

The College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Lethal Arachnids avenged their women’s team’s defeat by downing the College of Computer Studies (CCS) Ascii Wolves with a score of 93-75 in the Men’s Basketball pre-games of PALAKASAN 2024 held at the MSU-IIT Gymnasium, April 3. Even Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan was present to cheer on both teams.

The first game started with the Women’s Basketball from 6:30-8:00 PM, followed by the second game for the Men’s Basketball from 8:00-9:30 PM.

The CASS Women’s team led for the first three quarters, but shocking the crowd, the CCS Women’s team turned the tables with a 3-point shot, breaking the Lethal Arachnids’ 28-27 lead. With 4 minutes remaining, the Ascii Wolves was still leading. The game ended with a score of 32-28, in favor of the CCS Women’s team.

The Men’s Basketball match-up then followed with the CCS Men’s Basketball team having high morale for winning the first game and even scoring 4-0 in the first minute. However, the CASS Men’s team was hungry for revenge and fought back aggressively, breaking CCS’ lead, scoring 16-18 on the half-time of the first quarter. Unfortunately, the first quarter ended with the CCS team leading with a score of 25-22.

Only in the second quarter did the Lethal Arachnids begin to lead, snowballing their way to victory in the fourth quarter.

Chancellor Ditucalan, present at the event, expressed his joy in an interview at witnessing such exciting games and the booming cheers that showcased the school spirit.

“I wish for the Palakasan 2024 to be successful,” he emphasized.
