MSU-IIT IPAG in the Frames: An Exhibition—A Brief Analysis

by Fatmah Said, Jelyn Genon, Brejette Cometa, Samuel Adlaon, and Thea Maristelle Pusod

A cultural performance that marks the rebirth of theater, IPAG-Subang breaks the boundaries of conventional theater by taking place in a university hallway and at the crossroad. Unlike traditional on-stage plays, MSU-IIT IPAG redefines the concept of art through this unconventional venue where random walker-bys can witness the performance. The performance showcased that art extends beyond the stage and framed pictures on a wall; it is everywhere, and performances occur whether you notice them or not. And most significantly, it reminds us that art is for the people—it is free, it is yours to enjoy.

While television shows and movies remain on screens, IPAG chooses to transcend the confines of technology. By refusing to limit itself on stage, IPAG ensures that theater remains vibrant and dynamic. IPAG paves the way for a new epoch, a new chapter, and the start of a fresh season.

Day 1 “Kamulo”
Spun in color canvas, the spectacular IPAG performers weave through frames and the pouring rain— reminiscent of the future: unbound. White is but the prism that reflects all possibilities. It is hope. It is the arts’ integrity. It is the ray of tomorrow’s sun. One can watch such a performance and witness a painting come to life.

Day 2 “Panag-hisgot”

In the intimate spaces between words, IPAG breathed life and brought dialogue to the forefront. The stage became a vessel for voices that confront, challenge, and resonate. Distinct in its portrayal, each act wove together themes of identity, struggle, and resilience, peeling back layers of rich emotions and insights. With IPAG’s dedication to capturing the essence of these stories, it reinforces the guild’s mission to reflect and amplify the diverse voices within our community.

Day 3 “Panag-uyon”

An anthology of Mindanao tribal music modernized to showcase the genesis of MSU-IIT IPAG. The musical performance conveyed the story of innate creativity inside humans and how the curiosity of the soul—when allowed to explore—will blossom to beat and become more. An entropic beginning from spontaneity and chaos, comes synchronization and harmony and then collaboration. Day 4 “Pag-subang” The dance of qualia, as IPAG impels the humane capability to frolic in superposition— entangling bodies in harmony of a dialogue—awaits the sunrise. As abstract betrays the metaphysics of experience, they sway as the performers reach for the frame— the fleeting movement, the poetry of dancers. Sweat turned into droplets of rain, flowing with the rhythm of refrain, beyond the empiricism of perception-hindering-senses.
