Out of the participating teams from IIT, one emerged as the 17th breaking team—the highest to break in the Visayas-Mindanao circuit, last September 6-8.

Advancing to the outrounds today, September 14, is MIDV’s Prime Minister Jayvee Bondoc from BS Philosophy (Applied Ethics), along with Leo Herold Laluna from BS Nursing and Devlin Fritz Villanueva from BS Physics, representing MSU-IIT A.

This year, MSU-IIT was represented at the 2024 PIDC by the following student-debaters: MSU-IIT B, which included Kathleen Anne Fumero from BS Philosophy (Applied Ethics) and Franzyn Maryel Incon from BS Psychology, together with Mark Gallardi from BS Computer Science; MSU-IIT C, comprising Jesciller Villaruz from BA Political Science alongside Zhea Sanchez from BS Biodiversity, and Tristan Segura from BS Animal Biology. Additionally, Bryan Alexander Open from BA Literary and Cultural Studies served as an adjudicator.

As the premier national Asian Parliamentary debate tournament in the Philippines, PIDC features intense debates and complex motions, bringing together the country’s top debaters. Hosted by the University of the Philippines Debate Society (UPDS), the event began last week and is set to continue today and tomorrow, September 14 and 15 for the finals bracket.
