The Throne of Cair Paravel has found its rightful queen. All hail the Queen of Narnia!
During the intense excitement of the House of Arachnae Drag Supreme at the MSU-IIT Gym on January 28, Tuesday, Jaya Gemini, known offstage as Carlo Jay Corpuz, a fourth-year BA Political Science student, ascended to the throne as Drag Superstar 2025.
The evening was a spectacle of drama and fiery spirits, with lip-sync battles and show-stopping outfit reveals that fueled the gymnasium. Jaya’s final performance, a compelling lip-sync to BeyoncĂ©’s "Diva,” featured a show-stopping outfit reveal and impeccable dance moves that left the crowd roaring. She outshone Pearla Masculada, Margot, and Diamond Diva, who secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd runner-up positions, respectively.
Reflecting on her victory, Jaya shared, “The pressure on me is very, very big. But I want to take every step of my reign gradually and be able to elevate the skills that I have.” Her thoughtful dedication to her craft was evident in every moment of her performance.
As she steps into her reign, Jaya has set her sights on Palakasan. “The whole cast is looking forward to a third consecutive crown. Let’s see about that soon. We’re going to cross the bridge when we get there,” she said.
As Jaya Gemini ascends the Throne of Cair Paravel, a new chapter begins with a thrilling future ahead. Her victory at the House of Arachnae Drag Supreme not only carves her place as a symbol of beauty, creativity, and excellence but also sets the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable reign. With the weight of the crown comes the promise of elevating the art of drag within the College of Arts and Social Sciences and beyond.
All hail the Queen of Narnia, whose journey is just beginning, and whose story will inspire the Seven Isles for years to come.
