With banners unfurled and spirits ablaze, the Seven Isles of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) embarked on an extraordinary voyage on January 24, 2025. Just like stepping into the magical world of Narnia, where every step leads to a discovery, CASS Days 2025 has opened a portal to a journey like no other. Bringing students together in a celebration that blends camaraderie, competition, and a quest for excellence, this year’s theme, “Voyage Through the Isles of Wisdom: Unraveling the Threads of Society,” transforms the college into a dynamic arena of fierce rivalries and shared triumphs. Each Isle strives to carve its name into the chronicles of CASS history, navigating the seas of unity and pride.
On the opening day of this week-long odyssey, students were invited to express which society they were rooting for to win and why, along with the message they wanted to share with the other societies. Their responses revealed a tapestry of loyalty, fiery determination, and a shared sense of community.
MSU-IIT Historical Society (MIHS)
Chadneil Actub, a first-year BA History student, expressed unshakeable pride in his Isle. “Feel nako ang mo daog karong CASS Days kay History jud kay syempre mao mani among society. Palaban jud kaayo mi,” he declared. He left a confident message for the others: “Good luck and God bless sa inyong tanan.”
Psychology Society (PsychSoc)
Hans Jedi Bulambot, a first-year BA Psychology student, conveyed his appreciation for his society’s commitment. “Naturally kay Psyche man ko, I’m rooting for my own society, Psychology Society. I was there kay facilitator man sad ko, nakit-an nako ang hard work sa among mga participants sa tanang events. Makita jud ang hard work,” he shared. His closing words were resolute: “Good luck lang sad kay dili jud magpatalo ang Psyche.”
Political Science Society (PSS)
Sybil Maxinne MadroƱal, a second-year BA Political Science student, exuded determination as she spoke. “Of course, with no question and with no doubt, PSS, because diha ko gikan, it’s my society. It’s really our goal to come on top and reclaim the throne, so hopefully we do win and mapanindigan namo among tagline nga ‘Reclaim the Throne.’” Her driven message for the other societies was sharp: “May the odds be ever in your favor.”
MSU-IIT Sociology Society (MISS)
Van Accel Rhey Asis, a second-year BA Sociology student, emphasized their Isle’s collective efforts. “For me, akong gusto nga mudaog jud karon sa CASS Days is syempre ang akong society, Sociology Society. Nganong kami ang deserving? Because makita namo nga among hago sa mga officers and also sa participants and mga constituents. Kabalo mi nga competent enough mi para deserving mi nga mo daog sa ani nga CASS Days 2025,” he shared. His message highlighted unity: “Good luck sa tanan and unta kitang tanan ma-enjoy nato ang CASS Days. Unta nga dili nato ni ma-see as competition kay at the end of the day, usa ra japon ta sa Palakasan. Kamang Damang!”
Literature, Language and Culture Society (LILACS)
Maxine Gail Gallo, a first-year BA English Language Studies student, expressed optimism and determination. “I’m rooting for LILACS, of course, our own society kay goal jud namo karon na year sa CASS Days 2025 nga ma put namo ang name sa among society sa podium kay bawi-bawi from last year. Unta mabalik ra among efforts so Gilas Lilacs!” She encouraged others to bring their best: “Unta nga pareho sa amo, i-give pud nila ilang best. Unta mag-enjoy ang tanan and unta safe lang mo dula ang everyone.”
Kabataang Pilipinong Aakay sa Bayan (KAPILAS-Bayan)
Ashly Anadon, a first-year BA Filipino student, spoke with fiery confidence. “Of course, mo layo pa ba ta? Ang Kapilas Bayan ang mudaog karon. Watch lang mo guys! Ang support sa mga Kapilas Bayan nag shagit-shagit, kusog jud kaayo mo cheer, maong naay energy ang mga players mo hapak, naa silay energy mo spike. Maong ma feel jud nako nga mo daog ang Kapilas Bayan karon,” she said. Her bold challenge? “Bantay-bantay lang mo kay dili mi pa pilde.”
Junior Philosophers’ Guild (JPG)
Gian Gabriel Vergara, a first-year BS Philosophy student, took a lighthearted yet reflective approach. “Ang society na gi-root nako karon kay ang Philosophy Society, sa amo. For me, for fun lang jud siya. In my philosophy, if you’re just having fun and mo trust ka sa imong mga guts, then you can surely win this competition. Either ma-win or lose, it’s okay ra japon kay malingaw raman japon ka. Pero for me, salig lang sa grupo and mag-tinabangay.” His message was one of inclusivity: “Good luck nila and let’s have some fun and may the best group win.”
As the first day of CASS Days 2025 drew close, the competition grew fiercer, but the bonds between societies grew stronger. Each Isle carries its dreams and determination, weaving a dynamic blend of stories, talents, and triumphs. The energy and passion on display promise that the journey ahead will be remarkable and inspiring.
The battle for glory has only begun. As the Isles sail deeper into this extraordinary journey, one thing is certain: CASS Days 2025 will be remembered as a chapter where the heart of CASS beats strongest.
