The College of Arts and Social Sciences’ (CASS) Tali faced off against the College of Computer Studies’ (CCS) Beta Byte in an electrifying men’s and women’s matchup during their opening round of the PALAKASAN Futsal pre-games on Thursday, March 13.
Splitting wins, the evening saw Beta Byte’s women’s team claim a 7-2 victory, while Tali’s men’s team edged out a 6-5 triumph in a high-intensity battle.
The action kicked off with the women’s match, where CCS’ Beta Byte won against CASS’ Tali. Despite the latter’s strong efforts early in the game, the former eventually dictated the pace, capitalizing on defensive gaps and converting key chances to accumulate goals.
Meanwhile, the men’s match was a thrilling contest of resilience and high-stakes moments, with Tali taking an early 2-1 lead before Beta Byte quickly leveled at 2-2. The intense back-and-forth continued as both teams repeatedly matched each other’s goals.
With tensions rising, penalty kicks became the game-changer. CASS took a 4-3 lead, but CCS quickly leveled at 4-4. Undeterred, CASS took advantage of two more penalties to secure a 6-5 victory, with Ihraghel Nayawan standing out as Player of the Match.
Following these results, the CASS Tali women’s team is set to seek redemption on Monday, March 17, while the men’s team aims to carry their momentum into their next match on Tuesday, March 18.
The PALAKASAN Futsal tournament, structured as a double-elimination competition, guarantees more thrilling matches next week as the race toward the first phase of the semifinals on March 20 intensifies.
