Eye for an Eye: CASS’ Tali, CSM’s Blynx Trade Wins in Neck-and-Neck Matches

By Andrea Ross Sedero

The women’s and men’s volleyball teams of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) and the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) clashed in intense, crowd-thrilling matches on Wednesday, March 5, with the CSM women’s team sweeping 2-0 and the CASS men’s team edging out a 2-1 victory.

Evident in their traded wins, the battle between CASS’ Tali and CSM’s Blynx was a rollercoaster of momentum shifts, nail-biting comebacks, and relentless exchanges which kept the score tight throughout both matches.

This was especially evident in the women’s match, where both teams went head-to-head in grueling rallies and fierce back-and-forth plays, pushing the first set to nearly an hour before CSM cliched a hard-fought 30-28 win.

Blynx carried the momentum into the next set, but Tali fought back, tying the score at 15-15 and keeping pace until 19-19. In an unexpected upset, Blynx secured the game at 25-20, handing Tali their first loss of the season.

Meanwhile, in the men’s match, both teams locked at 3-3 before CASS surged ahead to a 13-6 lead. Leaving CSM in the dust, they widened the gap and sealed the set with a strong 25-17 victory.

Resilient as ever, Blynx roared back in the second set, holding the lead until Tali leveled the score at 10-10. The teams went neck and neck, matching each other point for point until 24-24, where Blynx eventually broke away to snatch a 26-24 win, much to Tali’s frustration.

Similarly, the extended third set saw the men’s teams locked at 10-10 until 13-13, before CASS broke through CSM’s defenses and powered their way to a hard-fought 15-13 victory.

Both powerhouses displayed relentless energy and unwavering resilience, setting the stage for even more intense battles in the final games ahead.

This week’s matches will feature the quarterfinals and semifinals—the last challenges before the championship games on April 3 and 4 at PALAKASAN 2025.
