The College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Tali men’s futsal team triumphed over the College of Engineering’s (COE) Nova in a tight 4-3 semi-final match on March 27, securing their spot in the finals against the undefeated College of Education’s (CED) Borealis & Blaze on April 3.
From the first whistle, CASS’ Tali struck first, igniting the crowd with an early goal that showcased a perfect blend of brains and brawn. However, COE’s Nova quickly retaliated, equalizing the score with a counterattack that reignited the crowd’s enthusiasm.
The match unfolded as a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading goals until regulation time ended with the scores tied at 2-2, setting up the stage for a penalty shootout.
Both sides continuously displayed intense focus, matching each other shot for shot. The tension peaked when scores locked at 3-3, until Tali delivered the decisive goal towards the end, sealing their win against Nova with a 4-3 score.
This victory was particularly sweet for CASS, as it marked their redemption following a tough loss to CED earlier in the tournament—whom they will face once again in the upcoming finals. Rising from that setback, CASS showcased their unwavering resilience, proving they are a force to be reckoned with as they head into the championships.
Having advanced from the lower brackets, Tali will need to beat the undefeated Borealis & Blaze twice this coming finals in order to claim the crown.
