Cheers of fellow athletes and spectators erupted as red and green collided in a thrilling three-game showdown in the quarterfinals of the PALAKASAN 2025 Badminton tournament, with CSM’s Blynx outlasting CASS’ Tali in the women’s category today, April 4, at the IBT Sports Center.

Tali’s Herrero began her bid to take down Blynx in the Singles A match with a shaky start but later regained her composure with swift footwork and outstanding dropshots. However, her opponent remained unfazed, maintaining a stable volley of birdies and flicks full of dominance, securing the opening match for CSM Blynx, 31-17.

Instead of succumbing to the pressure, the smashing duo of Gandino and Sisican relentlessly attacked the crumbling defense of CSM Blynx. As Tali’s doubles team overpowered their opponents in the first half of the match with impregnable defense and solid chemistry, the players on the other side of the net refused to throw in the towel and resisted until the end, 31-27.

For the deciding match, Gandino was entrusted with the Singles B match right after her victory in the doubles matchup. Despite the exhaustion, she faced the rival standing her way to secure the podium finish.

Both players were neck to neck throughout the duration of their bout in a thrilling exchange of attacks and crosscourt kills. In the final moments, the players were tied at 30-30 with the atmosphere in the venue shifting to excitement and anticipation. With an unforced error, CSM Blynx narrowly escaped CASS Tali, 31-30.

Team Captain Hearthel Sisican recalled the hardships they faced in finding representatives and building rapport within the team. “After three years of being the captain for CASS, I have seen the struggle of the college to find players to represent for badminton. But now I’m very proud of the team following our 6th place stint last year.”

Sisican also expressed her delight after the bittersweet ending of their hunt for the podium finish. “For the game today, very sayang kay 1 point ra jud ang gap pero that’s okay knowing that Badminton really is both a physical and mental game. I am looking forward to the future endeavors for the team”.
