The College of Arts and Social Sciences’ (CASS) Cassanova showcased a strong performance, defeating the College of Economics, Business, and Accountancy’s (CEBA) Aurie in straight sets, 25-17, 25-20, during the PALAKASAN men’s volleyball pre-game held on Monday, March 9, 2026 at MSU-IIT Gymnasium.
Despite committing an early service error during the first set, CASS was quick to regain their composure and used the setback as motivation to stay aggressive throughout the match.
This led to both teams refusing to give up momentum. Whenever one side scored, the other quickly responded, creating a fast-paced exchange that kept spectators engaged.
As CASS gradually found their rhythm with consistent attacks and solid defensive plays, they eventually powered through to secure the opening set with a 25-17 finish.
CEBA returned to the court on the second set, determined to bounce back as they attempted to close the gap through persistent rallies.
Despite such efforts, Cassanova remained composed under pressure, sustaining their offensive momentum and defensive coordination. Their consistency allowed them to maintain control of the game and eventually seal the victory against Aurie at 25-20.
In an interview with CASSayuran, team captain and open spiker Khean Concepcion, a second-year BA Filipino student, shared that determination and teamwork played a crucial role in their victory.
Meanwhile, setter Aeron Dominic Cagas, a fourth-year BA Panitikan student, emphasized that their preparation for PALAKASAN 2026 centered on improving both individually and collectively as a team.
“We really worked hard and gave importance to improving not only individually but also as a team,” Cagas said.
Despite their win, he admitted that there are still areas that need improvement, particularly in communication and maintaining energy on the court.
Cagas added that while the team secured the victory, they believe their performance still has room for growth and has not yet reached its best.
With this opening win, Cassanova set the tone for their PALAKASAN journey, leaving the CASS Arachnids eager to witness how the team will perform in their upcoming matches.
