Like a spider attacking the prey caught in its web, the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Cassanova women’s volleyball team secured a commanding 2-0 victory against the College of Health Sciences (CHS) Riptide during a preliminary match ahead of PALAKASAN 2026, last March 12, 2026 at the Institute Gymnasium.
In the early phases of the first set, the atmosphere seemed evenly matched, with both teams balancing the score and court dominance.
Yet Cassanova kept their eyes on the ultimate goal, tightening their grip on the game and weaving a stronger offensive rhythm, which left Riptide trailing as the set ended with a score of 25-13 in favor of Cassanova.
Hoping to regain momentum, Riptide attempted to mount a comeback in the second set but faltered against the relentless Cassanova and their coordinated defense and powerful offense.
With every rally, the CASS spikers strengthened their hold of the match, striking decisively and closing the second set with an emphatic 25-11 victory against CHS.
Showcasing their prowess and strategy on the court, CASS outmaneuvered CHS with a dominant overall tally of 50-24. Cheers and chants from the crowd and pounding drum rolls fueled their momentum, while fast serves, powerful strikes, and solid defense defined the match.
With this win, the Cassanova women’s volleyball team advances to the next stage of the tournament, carrying with them the momentum of a commanding opening performance.
